Welcome to one of North America's leading trade associations - the Ontario Trucking Association.

Founded in 1926 by industry visionaries, OTA has been an innovative, responsible and results oriented organization from day one. Few other trade organizations in Canada are as effective, or as widely recognized throughout North America and the rest of the world. OTA members share a common philosophy that is contained in the OTA Guiding Principles.

Accolades like those recently published in the Globe and Mail ("...The Ontario Trucking Association and the Canadian Trucking Alliance have been amongst the most successful lobby groups in the land."), don’t come easy for any trade association. The starting point is a strong, visionary membership. This must be followed up by a dedicated, professional organization. The Ontario Trucking Association and the Canadian Trucking Alliance are two such organizations. (CTA is a federation of the provincial trucking associations. By joining OTA, a company automatically becomes a member of CTA.)

OTA goes the extra mile to create a fair and equitable business environment where the industry can grow and prosper. With one hand on the heartbeat of the industry, and the other on the pulse of government, we make recommendations that have a direct impact on legislation, regulation and business practices that govern trucking.

OTA speaks for the industry in the legislatures, courts and media on a host of issues. OTA is the unified voice of the trucking industry in Ontario.

1. Powerful Representation

OTA ensure the voice of the trucking industry is heard on any issue that affects it. OTA consults and communicates regularly with its membership to gain a full understanding of the issues that matter most. This information is used to develop policies at the OTA Board level and is then presented to governments, journalists and the public.

OTA is accountable to its members – see Issues Report below for a list of recent association victories and activities.

2. Staff Specialists at Your Service

Like the members they serve, OTA staff has a standing mandate to deliver results, while keeping a tight grip on finances. Our promise to you – members’ dollars are put to good use and are efficiently allocated.

OTA members can access the in-house expertise of OTA’s professional staff. You can personally contact any of our highly skilled group of qualified professionals to get answers to questions or seek their advice on issues.

OTA staff - lobbyists, government policy analysts, trucking operations directors, economists, lawyers, safety and maintenance specialists and communications specialists – stand ready to assist members. A convenient list of staff is available from our web site.

3. News and Information that Matters to You

In a recent survey, OTA members said they ranked OTA newsletters, web site and special bulletins as their #1 source of information – even above popular trade magazines and industry web sites.
